My work is a dance between the emotional and the intellectual, with images emerging during the painting process rather than being literal representations of something observed.

I am seeking to integrate a free expression of my feelings with my visual experiences, whether of nature or art.

My paintings are never worked out completely in advance, but evolve as my conscious and subconscious sensibilities are expressed. The same response can be true for the observer.

Color is a critical element in my work, expressing feeling rather than objective reality. My palette has been affected by such influences as a museum visit, a printed image, or a visit to an unfamiliar culture.
